KaBOOM Playground Build

On September 26, 2009, the F.I.S.H. Foundation, Inc., worked with KaBOOM—a nonprofit organization in Washington, D.C.— and the Princeton YM/YWCA to build a playground at the Princeton YM/YWCA. Children at the Y designed the playground that summer with input from their parents and other interested adults. We started at 8:30 a.m. on Build Day, completing the entire 4,700–square-foot playground by 2:30 p.m. All of it was made possible by F.I.S.H. Foundation, Inc., funding, by KaBOOM workers, and by the more than 300 volunteers who came out that day to shovel mulch, assemble and carry equipment, mix cement, and paint benches. Even younger children took part in the effort by painting tiles, which were later, adhered to the playground’s fence to make it more colorful.
